Happy New Year to everyone and that your 2015 year is a very successful one for all of you! So while on a shoot last week for a client we were in a tight space and me being a klutz I did not fully fasten my camera to my tripod and when I turned around to get the camera ready I saw the camera fall. Like in the movies in slow motion I screamed “NOOOOOOOOO” as I saw the camera fall.
When the damage was done I look in horror as I saw the front of my lens with a large spider crack, lucky for me that I had a filter on it 🙂
The shoot went off without a problem and that lucky for us neither the lens or camera was damage in the fall, just my nerves.
In my course of being a photographer I had my share of equipment falls and accidents but never a case where I saw a crack on a filter like this. I seen in other professional sites where there has been a running debate for years about either having a filter or not on your lens. Well I can tell you for a fact that this filter saved me a large headache and a cost of replacing a lens.
What I have learn from this experience, well first off make sure that your gear is secure, and second that I am placing a filter on all of my lenses!
